Touchstone Orthodontics is proud to offer innovative orthodontic treatments, including products like Invisalign. Appropriately named Invisalign features a polyurethane plastic that’s virtually unseen, making it a popular choice among all age groups. Let’s look at what makes Invisalign a great option for orthodontics.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign aligners work just like traditional braces, gradually applying force to the teeth to shift them into better, more desirable alignment. Treatment is typically broken up into stages. For each one, Invisalign provides custom aligners that fit over the top teeth and bottom teeth. To begin, patients wear the aligners 20 hours daily for two weeks and continue with a new set to complete each stage, providing the desired gradual movement throughout the course of treatment.
How Long Does Invisalign Take?
Every patient and treatment plan is different of course, but on average, Touchstone patients complete Invisalign treatment within 6 to 15 months.
What are the Advantages of Invisalign?
There are three primary advantages of Invisalign treatment compared to traditional braces.
- Aesthetic. Invisalign aligners are practically invisible, making them more attractive than wires and brackets. In fact, most people won’t even notice you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment!
- Functionality. Invisalign aligners are completely removable. This means there are no dietary restrictions, and patients can brush and floss like they normally do.
- Treatment time. Perhaps best of all, treatment time with Invisalign is often faster than braces, taking just 6 to 15 months on average compared to 1 to 3 years with traditional braces.
Can Anybody Get Invisalign?
While Invisalign is a great option for most patients, it may not be ideal for all. Existing dental work and other specific orthodontic problems like severely rotated teeth and large spacing can sometimes be a better fit for traditional braces. The best way to know?
